Christmas Cards

Majority of people spend Christmas with their loved ones, family and friends but everyone has someone who is dear to them but cannot be together for Christmas. For that reason many like to send Christmas cards wishing Marry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all who mean something to them but will not be able to spent Christmas together for one or the other reason.

Telephone and Internet brought communication to another level, while correspondence via mail lost its former importance. Today one can wish Marry Christmas also on the telephone or send an E-card via email but many people still prefer to send cards for special occasions and holidays including Christmas what clearly indicate 1,9 billion sent Christmas cards alone in the United States in year 2005.

The tradition of sending Christmas cards dates from the 19th century and became popular worldwide in the 20th century. As old as tradition of sending Christmas cards is also the tradition of making Christmas card on one own. Christmas cards made by individuals or families remained popular until the present-day mostly to avoid commercialism and to emphasize one’s affection. In general, self-made Christmas cards are also highly appreciated by the recipients regardless to their artistic value. Alone the thought that someone took time to make a Christmas card is priceless.
