Christmas Tree

Decorated Christmas tree, natural or artificial, is virtually a must on Christmas. An evergreen coniferous tree which is placed in the house or/and in the open has a long tradition and remained one of the most popular types of Christmas decoration until today.

Christmas tree is commonly decorated with various colorful ornaments, special candy canes, Christmas lights and topped with a star or an angel. Traditionally, Christmas tree is brought home and decorated on the Christmas Eve (December 24) and removed after twelfth night (January 6). However, the majority of people today like to put up Christmas tree much earlier. Putting up Christmas tree is in many families a special event in which participate all family members, while parents traditionally place Christmas gifts underneath the tree. Some like to put gifts beneath the Christmas tree on the Christmas Eve after the children have gone to bed and to tell them they were brought by Santa Clause, while the others place gifts beneath the tree earlier but open them on the Christmas Day.

Everyone decorates their Christmas trees on their special way and style. The are countless possibilities how to decorate the Christmas tree, while shops offer countless of different items that are intended for Christmas tree decoration. However, many also like hang on their Christmas tree self-made items and ornaments that perhaps are not the prettiest but have great emotional value for one or the other reason and often have a special place on the tree. Besides personal taste great influence on Christmas tree decoration has also certain family tradition.
