Kids crafts are an excellent choice for an activity. Crafts are often inexpensive and are ideal for many ages. Even coloring pages are perfect for very young children. Writing letters to Santa or drawing his many reindeer can be lots of fun for children. Other Christmas crafts are making placemats for the holiday table or making Christmas cards to send to family and friends. Kids that are more advanced at crafts might enjoy making jewelry, knitting or crochet.

Activities that celebrate your faith are also ideal for the winter. Whether your family celebrates Christmas, Kwanza or Hanukah there are special kids’ activities ideal for your faith and that special celebration. This is a wonderful way to connect your child to their belief system and also nurture the sense of holiday celebration in their heart.

Some physical activity is an excellent choice for all kids. Try making a snowman outdoors as a family or have the older kids lead the younger kids in this activity. Sledding or ice skating are also popular activities. If you live in the Northern part of the country, the Christmas weather will likely be colder and there is a strong chance there will be snow on the ground. The air is cool and crisp and activities outdoors can take advantage of the snowy weather. If you don’t have snow, don’t worry there are plenty of other activities for your children to do and enjoy. Even playing a simple game of freeze tag with younger children can be a fun activity. Or going for a walk in the woods would be something they would enjoy.
